Help

If you have any suggestions as to how we could improve our site, please send an email to: webmaster@nram.govt.nz

If you wish to contribute new entries to NRAM, please send an email to the Administrator: administrator@nram.govt.nz

Any errors within NRAM entries should be reported to the holder of the relevant collection. A link to the holder's contact details can be found near the top of each entry.

Site Navigation

The NRAM site is divided into sections, each with an index page listing details of subsections.

There are a number of buttons that appear on the home page to help with navigation and access of the site. A button which enables you to return to the home page appears on every page of the site as does a button which will link you to the contact details of the Administrator and Regional Assistants.

Here's how to use the tools on this site to help you to find what you're looking for.

Search NRAM

Use the Search NRAM button when you wish to search the entries which have been contributed to the NRAM database. The search NRAM tool works by searching for your word or words on all fields of all entries in the NRAM database. It will retrieve all entries in which your chosen word or words appear. It is not possible to search on phrases at this time.

Links

Use the links button to access a range of archival websites considered to be of interest to both researchers and contributors to NRAM. The links page includes links to:

  • the contact details of all NRAM contributors;
  • the websites of archives repositories in New Zealand whose databases are searchable on the internet. Many of the records listed in these databases are not included in the NRAM database;
  • other New Zealand archives portals and email addresses of archives repositories who either do not have websites or whose websites do not include searchable databases;
  • professional organisations in New Zealand who take an interest in the management of archives collections;
  • websites containing useful information relating to the management of archives collections;
  • international registers, portals and union lists.

Statement of site purpose

On the NRAM website you will find information enabling researchers to search the holdings of, and contact archives repositories throughout New Zealand. A number of limitations should be noted:

  • not all archives repositories in New Zealand contribute to the NRAM database;
  • those repositories who have contributed may not have listed all of their holdings;
  • although this website includes links to the websites of a large number of New Zealand archives repositories, it does not claim that the list of links is comprehensive.

NRAM entries contain the most current information available. If researchers notice that details have changed or been deleted since previous visits, this will usually have been in response to a request from the contributing repository. Records are deleted if a contributing repository ceases to exist and their archives cannot be traced. If the archives have been transferred to another repository, the new repository will be recorded as the holder.

Organisations and individuals with archives collections in their care will find information and forms on this website enabling them to contribute entries to NRAM.
